Well, I nearly died. This is Florence from the top of the Campanile, the stupidly high bell tower next to the Duomo. IT IS OVER 400 TINY STEPS OF EXTREME DOOM. I totally, totally flogged myself to get up to the top, collapsed gasping amongst a puddle of other beached fish, stood up all wobbly-legged, took some photos, admired the view….but, hang on, what’s that tiny door in one of the pillars? With, are those more stairs? MORE STAIRS? MORE STAIRS ARE YOU FOR REAL THIS WAS BAD ENOUGH!!!!Yeah, so there I was, on floor ONE OF FOUR, and the horror had only just begun.So, if you’re reading this, admire that photo. Show your friends, print it out and hang it on a wall, demand that your national government print it on stamps and banknotes, because I sweated blood to take it.
